Zelig Jack and Abraham Amper, two teenagers, lay dying after being shot and beaten by Morton's men, and said to their comrades ... Maybe a day will come when the Jewish population will know we were its soldiers ... ever-loyal soldiers of the nation.

Abraham Amper had escaped Nazi Poland at age 17, roamed the forests of war torn Europe to make his way to Eretz Israel, where he immediately joined the Underground movement.

LECHI organizes, but does not succeed in eliminating Morton and Sanders, two British Officers who diligently murdered and tortured underground fighters, with vehement anti-Semitism.

At this time the Germans had already slaughtered almost five million Jews, with a minimum of protest from a busy world. And the Germans were preparing to murder the remaining million Jews in Europe. And here were the British vigorously repelling boat loads of men, women and children - pale, branded escapees from the German extermination camps.

(Feb) ss Struma sinks, 769 Romania Jewish refugees aboard, British forbid it to enter Palestine and it sunk (hitting a mine) in the Black Sea, drowning all but one.

The Struma, carrying 769 men, women and children fleeing from the German death mills, was kept from Palestine by the British. As a result the unwanted Struma went down in the Mediterranean. Seven hundred and sixty-eight of the Struma's passengers were drowned, a score the Nazis might envy.

(Mar) LECHI member Ephraim Zetler is kidnapped by Haganah, tortured for 3 days, hung by a rope that tied both his hands behind him, repeatedly, until almost dead, then dumped in a gutter for local British police to pick up and throw into Mizra Detention Camp.

Zetler will later fight at the Battle of Jerusalem.
