PALESTINE POST, MAY 1947 (on Acre)   Typical of the style of the language (the Jewish Agency) held about us is this – now seemingly incredible – editorial article in one of the leading organs of their propaganda, the English language Palestine Post.   It was written in comment on the historic attack on the Acre fortress:             “Sunday’s attack was but a further stage in the deliberately set plan to defy not merely the Government of this country but the national institutions of the community to which the attackers themselves belonged.  The ultimate object is to create a reign of terror which will enable these so-called ‘dissidents’ to wrest power from a democratically elected leadership and exercise it dictatorially themselves.”               – their choice was clear: better Mapai control of the Jewish community under the British heel than Jewish independence without Mapai control.
