A TISHA B’AV CHRONICLE 586 B.C.E.  The Babylonian armies have sacked Jerusalem, destroying the Temple of Solomon and carrying the Jewish people into exile. 70 C.E.  The Roman legions under Titus have crushed the Jewish revolt, leveled Jerusalem and the Second Temple, murdered thousands of Jews in the streets, and carried off many others into exile and slavery. 135 C.E.  The fortress of Beitar has fallen to the Romans, thus ending the revolt of Bar Kochba. 1096 The First Crusade has brought death and destruction to the Jewish communities up and down the Rhine Valley. 1146 It is the time of the Second Crusade, Jewish communities in Germany and France have once again been massacred. 1189 The Third Crusade has led to bloody anti-Jewish rioting in cities all over England. 1290 Jews have been expelled from England. 1292 Twenty four cartloads of Talmudic volumes have been burned in Paris by church officials. 1306 The Jews have been expelled from France. 1480 The Inquisition has begun to “reclaim the souls” of Jews by burning their bodies. 1492 The Jews have been expelled from Spain after living there in peace for centuries. 1597 The Jews have been expelled from Italy. 1648 Chmielnikski’s hordes have massacred thousands of Polish Jews. 1882 Government instigated pogroms take place throughout the Jewish areas of Russia. 1910s Arabs massacre Jews and destroy half the new settlements of Eretz Israel. 1920 Arabs massacre Jews in riots of Jerusalem and other cities of Eretz Israel. 1929 Scores of Jews - women, children, and old people are slaughtered in Arab rioting in Hebron, Palestine. 1938 Romania massacres over 400,00 of its 800,000 Jewish citizens. 1936-39 Arabs massacre Jews in riots throughout Eretz Israel while British stand by watching and arresting all Jewish defenders. 1939 World War II breaks out and Britain bars Jewish immigration into Palestine/Eretz Israel. 1945 One third of the Jewish people - six million human beings - have been slaughtered in German death factories. 1947 The United Nations votes to give the Mandate over Palestine to a partitioned Jewish state and Arab state.  Arabs immediately begin attacks and massacres of Jews in Eretz Israel. 1948 Britain forces a blockade on the state of Israel to prevent weapon supplies to Israel in her battle for independence against the Arab nations.  The United States imposes an embargo on weapons and US citizens from entering Israel in her battle for independence. 1956 Egypt wars against Israel. 1967 United Nations gives Arafat’s Palestinian Liberation Organization authority in Gaza, Golan, Judea and Samaria 1967 The Six Day War - Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan all attack Israel at once. 1968 THE PALESTINIAN NATIONAL CHARTER, Article 20:The Balfour Declaration, the mandate for Palestine and everything that has been based upon them, are deemed null and void.  Claims of historical and religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history ad the true conception of what constitutes state hood.  Judaism, being a religion, is not and independent nationality.  Nor do Jews constitute an single nation with an identity of its own; they are citizens of the states to which they belong. 1969 The War of Attrition - Syria wars with Israel. 1973 Yom Kippur War 1974 Arab terrorism against Israel intensifies from many anti-Israel terrorist organizations. 1977 Zuhair Muhsin (PLO): ... there are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese ... We are one people.  Only for political reasons do we carefully underline our Palestinian identity.  For it is of national interest for the Arabs to encourage the existence of the Palestinians against Zionism.  Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity is there only for tactical reasons.  The establishment of a Palestinian state is a new expedient to continue the fight against Zionism and for Arab unity. 1977 Peace Treaty at Camp David between Israel and Egypt in exchange for Sinai and other Israeli concessions weaken Israel’s sovereignty and border security. 1980 Yassir Arafat: The destruction of Israel is the goal of our struggle, and the guidelines of that struggle have remained firm since the establishment of Fatah in 1965. 1982 Operation Peace for Galilee. 1991 Intifada terrorism from PLO further intensifies. 1995 Oslo Accords exchange land for peace again ... further weakening Israel’s sovereignty and security of borders. 1996 Arab terrorism intensifies again. 2000 Intifada intensifies as suicide bombings become daily occupancy within Israel. 2003 The Quartet (the United States, Russia, the European Union, and the United Nations) demand the division of Israel into two states - Israel and Arab Palestine.  Prime Minister Ariel Sharon concedes to dividing the 55 year old State of Israel.
