"PRICKS IN YOUR EYES AND THORNS IN YOUR SIDES"
A Voice from Hebron
by Gary M. Cooperberg

The state of Israel is the beginning of fulfillment of Biblical destiny. In spite of the fact that we have neither prophet nor king to lead us, and we are like children groping in the dark, events beyond our control have found us participating in a Divine process which few of us recognize or accept.

It is true that we have leaders who are oblivious to the dynamic reality of our unique role on this planet. In spite of the fact that these people have literally participated in so many very real miracles from the moment this state was established, they have chosen not to look at them. They have forced themselves to think that we have won impossible wars either because we had a brilliant army, or just a lot of good luck. It never would have occurred to them that G-d was at our side, and were he not we would not be here.

The fact that few would be willing to state is that the Jewish State can never be destroyed. There is no power on Earth which can do this. Had we a leadership that understood this fact we would not be suffering from terror today. Not only that, we would already have brought peace to the planet. Israel is not just another country. She is the key to redemption of all of Mankind. Until she accepts her Divine role terror will reign in this world.

It is unfortunate that we have a government which really thinks that it controls our destiny. From right to left all political factions have brilliant ideas by which they propose we can find true peace. All of them are totally wrong. We will never achieve peace via: a huge fence all around us; creating a new Arab state on Jewish soil; uprooting Jewish settlements; giving away parts of our homeland; "voluntary" transfer; or even getting the King of Jordan to change the name of his kingdom to Palestine.

The only peace plan that will work is a truly Jewish one. First and foremost Israel must redefine herself. She was reborn to be the Jewish State. This means that only Jews should have the right to be citizens here. Secondly, any non-Jew who claims sovereign rights to this land must be immediately expelled. And, last, but not least, any non-Jewish _expression of physical hostility against Jews should be met with a lethal response. There is no "due process" for terrorists, other than immediate execution. That means should an Arab as much as raise a hand against a Jew, he should be shot on the spot. The reason for this is that by attacking a Jew, he is attacking the Jewish G-d. This cannot be permitted to continue, as it is a desecration of our G-d.

We have gotten ourselves into a terrible mess. But that is no reason for us to throw up our hands and assume that we cannot clean it up. The President of the United States is not G-d. He cannot decree how the Jewish State should conduct itself. A true Jewish leader would politely inform the President that we are subject to a higher authority and have no choice in the matter of how we run our country. We have been commanded by G-d to return to and settle all of Eretz Yisrael. The commander-in-chief of the United States of America cannot countermand those commandments. On the contrary. It is in the interest of the United States of America to see to it that Israel obeys the commandments of G-d. By acting otherwise she is inviting Divine Wrath upon herself.

Most of our leaders have come to recognize that we cannot live in peace with our enemies. Even the most extreme leftists have suggested that we must separate from them. Yet almost the entire political spectrum sees only one way to accomplish this. . . by forcibly removing Jews from their homes and retreating into a smaller, more defensible state. It is totally "unthinkable" to these geniuses that perhaps it would be more sensible to forcibly remove our enemies from our homeland and move the combat line to our borders, rather than continue fighting our enemies in our towns and cities. They call such a concept "racism". Better to be nice to our enemies and allow them to continue to blow up our children on school buses than to be called "racists".

"And you shall do that which is right and good in the sight of the L-rd; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which the L-rd swore to your fathers; To cast out all your enemies from before you, as the L-rd has spoken" (Deuteronomy 6:18,19)

"When the L-rd your G-d shall bring you into the land which you are entering to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you; And when the L-rd your G-d shall deliver them before you; you shall strike them, and completely destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them. And you shall destroy all the people which the L-rd your G-d shall deliver you; your eye shall have no pity upon them; neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare to you: If you shall say in your heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them; You shall not be afraid of them; but shall well remember what the L-rd your G-d did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt" (Deuteronomy 7:1,2,16-18)

"And you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and live in it; for I have given you the land to possess it: But if you will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those whom you allow to remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall harass you in the land where you live" (Numbers 33: 53,55)
