Avihu Ben-Nun); the National Defence College (IDF); the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies;  BESA (Bar-Ilan University); Likud Chamber; Likud Security Group; the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs; and the International Christian Embassy (Jerusalem).  He has co-authored several articles with AMB. (IDF/Res.) Yoash Tsiddon-Chatto, former Chief of Planning for the Israel Air Force.  Professor Beres is a frequent contributor to NATIV, BTZEDEK and the Policy Papers Series of the Ariel Center for Policy Research. Professor Beres?s work is well-known to P M Sharon, to the intelligence and academic communities in Israel, and to the IDF General Staff. He is Chair of Project Daniel, a small group effort to advise the PM on certain existential security issues, primarily growing threats of nuclear war and unconventional terrorism. In January 2003 the group presented the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff with its full report: ISRAEL?S STRATEGIC FUTURE. Members of Project Daniel include former members of the IDF General Staff and an IAF Chief of Planning.

18 January 2006

LOUIS RENE BERES, Professor of Political Science and International Law at
Purdue University (Ph.D., Princeton, 1971), is Chair of Project Daniel. The
"Daniel" final report - ISRAEL'S STRATEGIC FUTURE - was originally
presented to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on January 16, 2003. Since
that time, the report's contents - no longer confidential - have been
briefed to senior defense officials in Tel-Aviv and Washington, and (by PM
Sharon) to the President of the United States. At this time, in mid-January
of 2006, it appears likely that international community sanctions against
Iran will fail, and that specific Project Daniel recommendations regarding
preemption, targeting and selective nuclear disclosure will be adopted in
Jerusalem.*
